Method
- In a bowl, combine the warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Mix well and let it rest for about 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
- Add the egg, melted butter, and salt to the yeast mixture. Stir until combined.
- Gradually add the flour, mixing continuously until a soft, uniform, and slightly sticky dough is formed.
- Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead for about 10 minutes until it becomes elastic and well developed.
- Cover the dough and let it rest for approximately 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle. Spread the butter over the surface and sprinkle the coconut and sugar on top.
- Roll the dough like a Swiss roll and cut into equal slices. Place the slices in a greased baking dish.
- Let the slices rest for another 20 to 30 minutes to rise again.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 25 to 30 minutes, or until lightly golden.
- Mix the condensed milk, coconut milk, and regular milk until smooth. Pour the sauce over the warm slices right after removing them from the oven.
- The dough will absorb all the liquid, making it extremely soft, moist, and delicious.
Notes
Serve warm for the best texture. You can also use different fillings such as chocolate or jam if desired.
